Truth is the terror | Abhijit Naskar | Esperanza Impossible: 100 Sonnets of Ethics, Engineering & Existence

“Esperanza Impossible Sonnet 2

Truth is the pandemic,
Truth is the terror.
My truth versus your truth,
Your truth versus another.
We speak of truth as if it’s a constant,
We chase it as antidote to our insecurity.
Most of our truths bring not understanding,
We cook up truth to fan our self-centricity.
Truth, in truth, is the opposite of stagnation,
Contraction repels all hope for understanding.
Truth is not a fixed point, but an act in motion,
Truth is the courageous act of a mind expanding.
Hence, to seek security one must not seek truth.
To seek truth, with security you must cut all truce.”

Kainat Calling (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavictor

“Kainat Calling (The Sonnet)

I’ll take your leave now,
Kainat is calling –
Ain’t gonna stay amidst
your narrowness no more.
You conquered moon,
you’ll conquer mars,
yet what’s the point,
when your heart is
still beastly sore!
Break your sleep, o drowsy doofus,
Wake up to the auspicious joyville!
Where love and light are supreme law,
Wake up to that valley of joy and zeal!
Everyday is Christmas there,
Everyday is Ramadan and Juneteenth.
Stay in your archaic muck if you like,
I gotta go now, Kainat calling!”

Verb Over Noun (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavictor

“Verb Over Noun (The Sonnet)

I do the best of my writing,
When I don’t feel like a writer.
I create the best of my philosophy,
When I don’t feel like a philosopher.
I write the best of my poetry,
When I don’t deem myself a poet.
I publish the best of my science,
Walking just a pilgrim of knowledge.
Labels we hold dear often hold us captive,
So do not take the acronym for the act.
Designations can’t contain the designated,
Move past the noun and let the verb enact.”

Can’t Handle Freedom (The Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Himalayan Sonneteer

“Ideologies are a hypocrite’s way of begging for attention. Real reformers only care about society, not ideological castration.”

“Can’t Handle Freedom (The Sonnet)

Whole human is the first human,
All else are but wannabe.
Designation human says it all,
Yet why do you chase terminology!
Even when you broke free from religion,
You could not handle that utter freedom!
Like a rightful new descendant of divisionists,
You chained the word “human” with an “ism”.
It is like you can’t handle being free,
You have to stay enslaved by one ism or another.
They used to keep the world apart with religions,
Today the same is done by new-age dividers.
Human, human, human – that is all we ever are.
Not humanist, not socialist, just carers of each other.”

Freedom is the Soul of Art

20190320_171147_0001-04

Art is the medicine for the soul. It is the purest form of expectation-less action. Art is the flow of potential through human hands, rising from the deepest fathoms of the human soul, that remain otherwise inaccessible to the world, as well as the self. The self finds an inexplicable sense of expression through art – an expression that is beyond the bounds of words – an expression that can never be defined with explanations – an expression that can never be comprehended through intellect. Inexplicability and inaccuracy are the lifeforce of art. Art is beyond intellect, it is beyond all forms of radical rationalism, it is beyond all those convictions of the mind that are born in comfort and security. Where reasoning fails to do justice to the expression of the soul, there begins the uncharted territory of art.

Every emotion, every phrase or sentence, every bit of human action, can be a form of art. Art is not necessarily bound to the stereotypical notions of the human society. Art can come in the form of a little sentence, art can come in the form of a simple brush-stroke, art can come in the form of an everyday snapshot, art can come in the form of a plain strumming on the fret of an old guitar. Art doesn’t require definition, and more importantly, art cannot be bound by the descriptions of words, yet words themselves can form the most rejuvenating and liberating form of art.

Art is the newly sprung river that keeps flowing at its own pace, based on its own unconditional knacks, passion, and its nature. Nature itself is art, and as such, art can be found in everything that belongs to nature. And in the world we live, there is nothing that doesn’t belong to nature, for everything is nature, hence, everything is art. Even science is art, when it flows pure and free – literature is art, when it flows pure and free – mathematics is art, when it flows pure and free. Any act of the mind that flows pure and free, is art, for freedom is the soul of art.
